Lyrical Joe - On Your Knees |
Ghanaian award-winning rapper Lyrical Joe has released "On Your Knees,' produced by Phredxter. This track responds to Nigerian rapper Dremo Drizzy's provocatively titled track, which challenges Sarkodie, Lyrical Joe, and other Ghanaian rappers.
The saga began with Ghana's top-notch rapper Sarkodie releasing 'Brag,' on May 09, a track that shook the African rap scene with its bold claims. Sarkodie's lyrics, filled with wordplay and clever rhymes, assert his position at the pinnacle of African rap.
Sarkodie boldly compared himself to global icons like Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole, reflecting on his rise from humble beginnings to rap stardom. "My biggest competition is Kendrick and Cole," the lyrics state. The track became a hot topic on X, sparking debates and discussions.
Nigerian rapper Dremo Drizzy responded with a verse targeting Sarkodie. However, instead of a direct reply from Sarkodie, a cohort of Ghanaian rappers, including Lyrical Joe, CJ Biggerman, and Phrimpong, stepped up with their own retorts, with Lyrical Joe's '1960' being particularly impactful.
Dremo escalated the exchange with his track 'If You Cedis (See this) When You Ghana (Gonna) Reply,' released today, posing a direct challenge to Sarkodie and his peers. In a swift counter, Lyrical Joe released 'On Your Knees,' delivering a potent rebuttal.
A fan of Lyrical Joe expressed unwavering support, saying, “See Aswear say the whole Africa no one fit stand Lyrical Joe.”
Embracing the rivalry, a Ghanaian listener remarked, “I’m Ghanaian, let’s be real this young cat (Dremo) can rap. This beef is actually good for African hip-hop, Afrobeat has taken over for so long.
As the saga continues, each new track adds to the intensity of this electrifying showdown, showcasing the raw talent and competitive spirit of Ghanaian and Nigerian artists.
