Anfoega Senior High To Launch 60th Anniversary with Alumni Homecoming

Anfoega Senior High School in Ghana’s Volta Region will begin celebrations for its 60th anniversary this November with a three-day programme that doubles as an alumni homecoming. The launch, scheduled for November 1–3, 2024, will set in motion a year of activities marking six decades since the school was founded.

The anniversary year will be formally unveiled during the November gathering, which is expected to draw past students from across Ghana and abroad. Organisers say the launch will include speeches from prominent alumni, exhibitions of the school’s milestones and opportunities for former and current students to connect.

While the November homecoming is designed as a ceremonial start, the main anniversary events will take place in 2025, culminating in a grand durbar and a series of programmes aimed at celebrating the school’s role in education and community development. The Central Planning Committee and the Anfoega Senior High Old Students’ Association (ANFOSA) are coordinating efforts to ensure both the launch and the climax reach a wide audience.

Established in 1964, Anfoega Senior High has produced graduates who have gone on to careers in public service, business, education and beyond. Alumni groups say the 60th anniversary is not only about celebrating that history but also about preparing for the school’s future. Plans for infrastructure upgrades, expanded academic programmes and deeper alumni involvement are expected to feature prominently in discussions throughout the year.

For many former students, the anniversary is a chance to give back to the institution that shaped their lives. ANFOSA has urged alumni to support the celebration by mentoring current students, contributing financially to projects and helping sustain the school’s legacy.

Guided by its motto, “The Deed Not the Glory,” Anfoega Senior High has long promoted humility, service and academic excellence. As anticipation builds ahead of the November launch, the community is preparing for a defining moment that will open a year of reflection and renewal.
