The move is part of the NIA’s mandate to build a secure and inclusive National Identity Register covering all Ghanaians at home and abroad. Until now, registration focused mainly on individuals aged 15 and above.
Registration Details and Fees
First-time registration at Premium Centres costs GHS 310, the same fee approved for all premium services. Parents or legal guardians must present one of three documents:- A valid Ghanaian passport of the child,
- The child’s original birth certificate, or
- A Ghana Card holder parent or guardian to vouch for the child.
Online Booking Expansion
Starting Sept. 15, 2025, the NIA will extend its online registration and booking system to all 11 remaining Premium Centres nationwide, allowing families to schedule appointments more conveniently.Card Issuance and Wider Access
The Authority said Ghana Cards for children who complete registration will be issued “in due course.” It also plans to roll out the service to NIA District Offices across the country in the coming weeks, further expanding access.The Ghana Card has become a critical requirement for services ranging from banking to SIM registration, making the latest initiative an important step toward ensuring a nationwide coverage.
