Ghana’s Armed Forces and other state security agencies will conduct a joint show of force exercise in the capital, Accra, on Thursday, December 11, 2025, as part of efforts to strengthen security ahead of the festive season, the military said in a statement.
The exercise will involve the Ghana Armed Forces working alongside the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Prisons Service, Ghana National Fire Service, the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority and the Ghana Immigration Service.
According to a press release issued by the Department of Public Relations of the Ghana Armed Forces, the operation will begin at 9:00 a.m. from Black Star Square, move through major streets in Accra, and end at the same location.
The military said the exercise is aimed at improving coordination among security agencies, boosting their operational readiness and reassuring the public of their ability to maintain peace and stability across the country. It is also intended to deter criminal activity, especially as the end-of-year festivities approach.
“The show of force forms part of ongoing joint security preparations to enhance inter-agency cooperation and ensure a robust national security posture,” the statement said.
The Armed Forces noted that the exercise is routine training and advised the public not to panic. However, residents should expect an increased security presence and possible temporary traffic slowdowns in parts of Greater Accra.
Members of the public have been encouraged to go about their normal activities while cooperating with security personnel.
The statement was signed by Colonel Evelyn Ntiamoah Asamoah, Director of Public Relations of the Ghana Armed Forces, and copied to all media houses for publication.
