The rollout, which started at 11:00 a.m., is structured as an hourly release of select categories running through 4:00 p.m. across TGMA's official social media platforms and partner channels. The staggered format allows fans and industry followers to engage with nominations progressively throughout the day, rather than receiving the full list at once.
The process culminates in a special nominees announcement show airing live at 8:00 p.m. on TV3 Ghana, where the Big Five categories, considered the most prestigious in the awards scheme, will be officially unveiled alongside additional nominees. Key industry stakeholders are also expected to speak at the televised event.
All nominations are drawn from musical works released between January 1 and December 31, 2025, making the eligibility window strictly confined to the previous calendar year. The 27th TGMA ceremony itself is scheduled to take place on May 9, 2026.
Ahead of the nominations announcement, gospel musician Joe Mettle confirmed he would not be participating in the 2026 edition, a decision that drew attention given his previous recognition at the awards. Speaking in an exclusive interview with Hitz FM's Nii Noi, Mettle cited a scheduling conflict as his reason for opting out. "No, I won't be around; that's why. I saw the date, and I won't be around," he said.
The Telecel Ghana Music Awards, organised by Charterhouse Ghana in partnership with telecommunications company Telecel Ghana, remains one of the most prominent platforms for recognising achievement across genres in the Ghanaian music industry. The 27th edition continues that tradition, with the full picture of this year's nominees expected to become clear by the close of Saturday's announcement programme.
