The weekend operations focused on identified drug hotspots in the Greater Accra communities of Kissieman, Dome, and Kwabenya, areas flagged by NACOC intelligence as active centres of illicit drug trafficking. Officers retrieved illegal drugs and other incriminating materials from the targeted locations during the exercise.
In the Oti Region, NACOC operatives conducted a major swoop at Alavanyo, where additional suspects were apprehended and suspected drugs confiscated.
All individuals arrested in connection with the raids are currently cooperating with investigators, according to NACOC. The Commission confirmed they remain in custody pending formal prosecution.
NACOC stated the operations form part of a sustained national effort to combat drug trafficking and substance abuse, with particular attention to densely populated urban communities where illicit drug networks have taken root.
In a statement published on its official Facebook page on May 18, 2026, the Commission pledged to continue identifying and dismantling criminal networks involved in drug distribution across Ghana.
NACOC also issued a direct warning to individuals involved in the drug trade, urging them to desist from their activities or face the full force of the law.
