24th VGMA Rescheduled, Jay Bahd's nomination revoked |
The Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) board has made key announcements ahead of its 24th edition, including a change in event date and the revocation of a major nomination.
In a press release issued on April 5, 2023, via their official Twitter account, the VGMA board revealed that musician Jay Bahd’s nomination for Best New Artiste had been withdrawn. The decision stems from an eligibility issue, as Jay Bahd had previously earned a shared nomination in 2021 for Yaw Tog’s hit single Sore, under the Collaboration of the Year category. The VGMA board apologized for the oversight and confirmed that Jay Bahd and his team were promptly informed.
In addition to this, the board announced a rescheduled date for the grand finale of the awards ceremony. Initially set for May 13, 2023, the event will now take place on May 6, 2023, at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre.
The VGMA board expressed its appreciation to stakeholders for their feedback and encouraged further input on improving the awards scheme. Suggestions and concerns can be sent to the VGMA team at info@ghanamusicawards.com.
