The appointment was made in accordance with Section 17 of the Bank of Ghana Act, 2002 (Act 612), as amended, according to an official statement from the Presidency Communications department.
Mrs. Asante-Asiedu is identified in the statement as a Chartered Banker and an experienced corporate executive. Prior to this appointment, she served as the Group Head for Retail Banking at Access Bank Ghana PLC.
Her academic qualifications include a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Marketing obtained from the GIMPA Business School in 2021 and a Master of Arts (MA) in Journalism Studies from Cardiff University completed in 2005.
Furthermore, Mrs. Asante-Asiedu holds diplomas in Journalism from the Ghana Institute of Journalism (1997) and in Politics and Public Affairs Reporting from the International Institute of Journalism in Berlin (2000). She recently achieved the designation of Chartered Executive Banker from CIB-Ghana in 2024.
The statement also noted her participation in executive development programmes at several international institutions, including Saïd Business School at Oxford University (2023), the Wharton School (2015), and Marquette University's Les Aspin Centre (2003).
The official communication confirming the appointment was signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Member of Parliament, who serves as Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications.
