Initially planned for May 3, the main awards ceremony was moved to May 10, 2025. Charterhouse Productions announced this adjustment on Thursday, April 10, 2025, citing their dedication to delivering a top-tier event and expressing apologies for any inconvenience caused. Consequently, the TGMA Master Class was shifted to May 8, followed by the Pre-Party on May 9. The Pre-Party provided a valuable networking opportunity for nominees, industry figures, and music enthusiasts, focusing on current trends within Ghana's dynamic music sector.
The most coveted award of the night, Artiste of the Year, was presented to King Promise. He also triumphed in the Album/EP of the Year and Best Afrobeats/Afropop Artiste categories. King Paluta was another significant winner, securing the Telecel Most Popular Song award for his hit "Aseda" and Highlife Song of the Year. The title of Best New Artiste was awarded to Beeztrap KOTM.
Nominations for the prestigious awards were first revealed on March 15, showcasing a competitive field of Ghana's leading musical talents. Alongside King Promise and King Paluta, artists such as Stonebwoy, Black Sherif, Kweku Smoke, Team Eternity Ghana, and Joe Mettle were in contention for the top Artiste of the Year honor.
The awards spanned various genres, underscoring the rich diversity of talent within the Ghanaian music scene. Stonebwoy was recognized as the Best Reggae/Dancehall Artiste and also won Best Reggae Song for "Psalm 23" and Best Music Video for "Jejereje." Kweku Smoke had a successful night, winning Best Hiphop/Hiplife Artiste, Best Rap Performance, and Best Hiphop Song for "Holy Ghost."
Team Eternity Ghana also received multiple honors, including Group of the Year and Best Urban Contemporary Gospel Song for "Defe Defe." Empress Gifty took home the award for Best Traditional Gospel Song with "Watch Me." The African Song of The Year was "Tshwalabam" by Titom ft. S.N.E, Yuppe, and Burna Boy.
Other notable recognitions included Ayisi for Record of the Year, and Joe Mettle for Best Gospel Artiste and Best Male Vocal Performance. The respected Songwriter of the Year award went to Kofi Kinaata. In the collaboration categories, Kidi ft Black Sherif won Collaboration of the Year for "Lomo Lomo," while Diana Hamilton ft Mercy Chinwo secured International Collaboration of the Year for "Doing of the Lord."
Fan engagement was a crucial element in determining the winners, with voting conducted via a dedicated short code, *1767#, and through the official awards website. A special Lifetime Achievement Award was conferred upon the legendary Yaw Sarpong, honouring his profound and lasting contributions to Ghanaian music. The Music for Good award was presented to Epixode.
