The release caps a prolific 2026 for the rapper, born Joseph Gamor. In May, he put out "Pedeo," an introspective, faith-inspired single that arrived around the same time he was formally presented as the son of a Ghanaian royal, ƆdɛɛfoƆ Dr. Ampim Darko, at a ceremony in Agona Kwanyako, a moment that added new depth to a story he had long told about growing up without his parents. That was followed by "Big Bird (Oheneba Abronoma)," a prayer-like song about staying focused, pushing through hard times, and aiming higher, also produced by Phredxter.
Taken together, the three songs feel connected, almost like chapters of the same story: identity and self-discovery on "Pedeo," perseverance on "Big Bird," and now, on "Free Minds," an introspective anthem that celebrates attaining complete mental and spiritual freedom by overcoming life's struggles and inner "demons" through divine grace and relentless perseverance.

Lyrical Joe has spent the past decade building a reputation as one of Ghana's most technically regarded lyricists. Born on August 5, 1995, he has released two studio albums, "Photo Album" (2023) and "I AM" (2025), alongside a series of singles tied to his birthday each August.
His collaborator on the new track, King Paluta, has emerged in recent years as one of Ghana's most prominent hip-hop voices, known for blending rap with hiplife and highlife influences and moving fluidly between English and Twi-language verses. He rose to national prominence with hit songs including "Yahitte" and "Aseda," a run that helped him win Best New Artiste at the 2024 Telecel Ghana Music Awards.
"Free Minds" released on July 3, is available now on major streaming platforms.
