This follows an initial album reveal on February 5, 2025, where the rapper introduced the project via the social platform X, describing it as a reflection of "passion, purpose, and power." That announcement included a 21-second promotional video and associated imagery depicting Lyrical Joe in blue tones alongside the letters "I," "A," "M," reinforcing the album's thematic focus on identity.
The release strategy for "I AM" included the preceding launch of five tracks from the album. These include "Julie" featuring Beeztrap KOTM (released November 2024 with a music video directed by NII JOSIAH), "Healing," "Feed My Soul," "Holy Sky," and "TES (Two Edged Sword)." The latter track, featuring fellow rapper Medikal and produced by ATown TSB, was released on April 18, 2025, accompanied by a music video also directed by NII JOSIAH, which subsequently generated reactions across online platforms.
Prior to the album campaign, Lyrical Joe released a non-album rap cypher titled "CRISIS" on January 31, 2025. The track featured collaborations with Odeneho Cannella, Trooth Wordsmith, Korley Black, and Tician Ruler, with production handled by Phredxter and video direction by NII JOSIAH.
"I AM" serves as the follow-up to Lyrical Joe's debut album, "Photo Album," released in 2023. The 15-track debut featured prominent Ghanaian artists such as Efya, Darkovibes, Sefa, E.L, and Medikal, alongside Nigerian rapper A-Q, and was noted for its narrative style.
The upcoming album features contributions from artists including E.L and radio personality Andy Dosty. Production credits for "I AM" are attributed to Phredxter, ATown TSB, E.L, and JuiczXxx. A pre-save link for the album has been made available via distribution platform Ditto Music.
Lyrical Joe, 29, has gained recognition within the Ghanaian music industry, securing the Best Rap Performance award at the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA, formerly VGMA) in 2022 and the Best Rap Performance award at the 3Music Awards in 2024. He currently holds two nominations for the 2025 TGMA: Best Rap Performance for his track "5th August 8" and Best Hiplife Song for "Enter," a collaboration with Kuami Eugene.
His listenership metrics indicate a growing audience, with reported figures exceeding 159,000 monthly listeners on Audiomack and 21,000 monthly listeners on Spotify. The announcement of "I AM" has generated considerable discussion within Ghana's rap community online, ahead of its mid-May release.
