The CAMON 40 Series is TECNO’s latest smartphone line emphasizing camera capabilities. Prizes for the contest include a Grand Prize of $10,000 USD, which also grants the winner the title "TECNO Photography Master." Gold, Silver, and Bronze prizes will be awarded within each of the three submission categories, valued at $5,000, $3,000, and $1,000 respectively. Winners may also be invited to participate in a photography trip to London. Additionally, ten top creators of Instagram Reels featuring CAMON 40 photos will receive CAMON 40 Premier 5G smartphones as part of the "TECNO Friend Prize." Selected winning entries are slated for exhibition in global media showcases and TECNO publications.
For the 2025 contest, TECNO has partnered with Amateur Photographer magazine. Amateur Photographer, a publication citing a long history in the field, will provide expertise for the judging process. An expert panel comprising judges from both Amateur Photographer and TECNO's imaging team will evaluate submissions. Judging criteria include the effectiveness of instant capture, emotional impact, use of light and color, and overall composition and image quality.
Nigel Atherton, Editor-in-Chief of Amateur Photographer, commented on the collaboration and the technology. "We are thrilled to see TECNO bringing professional-level snapshot capabilities to every smartphone user through the CAMON 40 Series, unlocking boundless creative potential," Atherton stated. He also referenced previous contest outcomes, adding, "[From last year's winners during a London trip], we witnessed the creation of many breathtaking and inspiring works."
TECNO plans to host localized "snapshot challenges" from June through August at retail locations in selected markets. These events are intended to provide potential participants with hands-on experience using the CAMON 40 Series' fast-shooting features ahead of the submission deadline.
Contest rules require all submitted photographs to be original, captured using a CAMON 40 Series device, and display a visible TECNO watermark. Duplicate entries will be disqualified.
