The new function, available in preview for Claude’s Max, Team and Enterprise customers, allows users to upload data or provide instructions and receive ready-to-use files in return. Pro users are expected to gain access in the coming weeks.
Anthropic said the upgrade is designed to make Claude more of a collaborator than an advisor. The chatbot now operates in a private computer environment where it can write code, run programs and generate files.
Examples include building financial models with working formulas, converting PDF reports into slide presentations, or organizing invoices into spreadsheets. The company said the feature can reduce tasks that typically require programming skills or hours of manual work to a matter of minutes.
Users can turn on the option under “experimental features” in the app’s settings, upload data or describe the project, and then download results or save them directly to Google Drive.
Anthropic cautioned that the tool gives Claude internet access for file creation and analysis, which may pose data security risks. The company advised users to monitor chats closely when working with sensitive information.
