The initiatives include constructing a highway linking Bolgatanga to Wa through Navrongo and Tumu, connecting the Upper East and Upper West regions. The government will also upgrade Bolgatanga airport and begin the long-delayed Pwalugu Multi-purpose Dam project.
The $900 million dam will be executed in two phases, starting with hydroelectric components designed to generate 60-70 megawatts of power. A solar component will add another 30-40 megawatts. The facility will irrigate 10,000 hectares of farmland and control flooding from Burkina Faso's Bagre Dam releases.
