The ministry acknowledged that the volume of applications exceeds capacity given the compressed timeline. A ceremonial swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for March 5, 2026, meaning not all interested applicants will be processed in this initial phase.
Officials from the Ministry of the Interior and the Diaspora Affairs Office at the Office of the President jointly issued the announcement, emphasizing that the citizenship program remains accessible beyond the immediate ceremony.

The government assured prospective applicants that the citizenship registration process continues to operate through the ministry's online portal at e-services.mint.gov.gh, with no individual being disadvantaged by the current time constraints.
"The Government of Ghana is committed to granting Ghanaian citizenship to all qualified applicants as part of its diaspora affairs initiative," the statement read.
