Ghanaian rapper Lyrical Joe has released a new single, "Pedeo," a faith-driven, introspective track exploring identity and personal transformation, a release that arrives alongside a striking real-life revelation, where the artist has been publicly recognised as the son of a Ghanaian royal.
The song dropped on Monday, May 11, and is available on Spotify, YouTube, and other major streaming platforms. Its official music video was directed by Nii Josiah.
On "Pedeo," Joseph Gamor (Lyrical Joe), delivers what he describes as "bars with a purpose," addressing a decade of industry frustrations, disloyal management, and emotional adversity before arriving at a narrative of spiritual renewal and self-realisation. The track features "Pedeo La Me Oh La Ma" and has drawn widespread praise from Ghana's hip-hop community for its lyrical depth and production quality.
The release coincides with a separate but thematically connected development in the artist's personal life. On May 8, 2026, at the Royal Palace of Agona Kwanyako, Lyrical Joe was formally presented as the son of ƆdɛɛfoƆ Dr. Ampim Darko. A video documenting the occasion, titled 'Lyrical Joe — From Rapper to Royalty,' was premiered on YouTube on May 10, with coverage provided by Sammy Flex TV.
The revelation carries considerable weight given that Lyrical Joe had previously stated publicly that he lost both parents at a young age and considered himself an orphan. The formal royal recognition therefore marks a profound shift in his personal narrative, one that finds an unmistakable echo in the themes of identity and self-discovery at the heart of "Pedeo."
Born on August 5, 1995, in Accra, Lyrical Joe has built a reputation as one of Ghana's foremost lyricists, known for sharp wordplay and consistent output including his annual "5th August" birthday release series. His discography includes the albums 'Photo Album' (2023) and 'I AM' (2025).
