The upgraded facility, first commissioned in 2016 but left with structural defects, underwent a second phase of rehabilitation beginning in December 2022. Works included replacing the roof structure, constructing septic tanks, installing a perimeter fence and security post, and fitting firefighting systems. Modern teaching resources such as air-conditioning, high-speed internet, and new science and ICT laboratories were also added.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Johnson Nyarko Boampong, who led the inauguration, said the enhanced centre now houses 11 lecture halls, 27 offices, two libraries, three science laboratories, and one ICT laboratory. “...I am pleased to report that the scope of the project was also significantly enhanced to meet modern educational and infrastructural standards,” he told attendees.
He also unveiled two newly built residential blocks, completed in September 2024, which will provide accommodation for both students and staff.
Local leaders praised the project. The Chief of Domenase, Nana Ntim Banahene, described the centre as a major investment in the community’s future and urged young people to seize the opportunity to pursue university education.
Provost of CoDE, Professor Anokye Mohammed Adam, said the facility would help students build the skills needed to compete in the global job market.
The commissioning was attended by traditional rulers, clergy, and university officials, among others.
