The University of Cape Coast (UCC) has opened a formal search for a new Vice-Chancellor, after the position became vacant on 24th September 2025, the university's Council announced on 3rd Feb, 2026.
UCC, currently ranked first in Ghana and West Africa and among the top 11 universities on the African continent in the 2026 Times Higher Education World University Rankings, is seeking a Professor of international standing to lead an institution with roughly 4,500 staff and 91,383 students across regular, sandwich, and distance learning programmes.
The successful candidate will serve as Academic and Administrative Head, Chief Executive, and Chief Disciplinary Officer, operating under the direction of the University Council. Candidates must be able to complete a full four-year term before reaching the compulsory retirement age of sixty.
The appointment carries an initial four-year term, renewable for up to three additional years subject to the age restriction. Conditions of service are described as "very attractive."

Applicants must also arrange for three referees to submit confidential reports directly, both by email and courier, to the Search Committee.
The deadline for all submissions is 16:00 GMT on 13th March 2026.
