Emmanuel Methodist Junior High School has won Ghana's 2025 Junior Science and Maths Quiz National Championship, defeating two other finalists in a competition hosted at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
The school secured the championship title with 32 points at the grand finale held at KNUST's CCB Auditorium, outpacing Best Brain Junior High School, which finished with 28 points, and Good Shepherd RC Junior High School, which earned 15 points in third place.
Emmanuel Methodist JHS received a prize package that included GH₵10,000 (approximately $640) for the school and individual laptops for each contestant. Best Brain Academy collected GH₵7,000 as first runner-up, while Good Shepherd RC JHS received GH₵5,000 for their third-place finish.
All three competing schools also received GH₵250 per contestant through sponsorship from Professor A.Y. Omari-Sasu, according to information published by KNUST's University Relations Office.
The Junior Science and Maths Quiz serves as a national academic competition for junior high school students in Ghana, testing participants' knowledge in science and mathematics disciplines. The 2025 edition marks another year in the competition's history of promoting academic excellence among pre-secondary school students in the West African nation.
The championship final featured what organizers described as highly competitive rounds among the three schools that had advanced through earlier qualifying stages to reach the national finale at the university campus in Kumasi, Ghana's second-largest city.
